TEXT WISH TO 70111 TO DONATE £3 A MONTH
My wish to Iceland - thank you!
I found out that my mum had applied to Make-A-Wish the day before my two Wish Visitors arrived.
I was really surprised that my mum had done this and that I would be eligible. She explained that I was because of my long term medical conditions and that, because I had had a rough few years, she felt that I deserved a once in a lifetime treat.
I had 24 hours to pick my three wishes and I knew what I really wanted to experience was a trip to Iceland to go to the Blue Lagoon.
I had seen my grandparent’s photos when I was younger and had never forgotten it. The couple who came to see me were lovely and put me very much at ease asking for such a wish.
I found out later that my mum was told my wish would be granted the day before my birthday in July, but she couldn’t tell me because they needed permission from my doctors to say that I could travel.
The letter came saying that my wish was being granted at the beginning of August. When my mum gave me the letter I just couldn’t believe I could be so lucky and I cried a lot!
Our Wishgranter Jamie then got straight on to planning every part of our trip, from where we would stay to all of our trips.
We stayed in an apartment rather than a hotel which was great as we could choose what we ate – I am fussy! Jamie kept in contact all the time even emailing mum the day we set off as our trips had to be changed.
Our flight was even a treat as Make-A-Wish had given us a letter for the flight. They gave me Icelandic chocolate and other treats on the plane which made me feel very special!
Our apartment was lovely and even Airbnb had sent me presents which was amazing, as it included a camera and a note which said I could use it to make memories.
Iceland itself was incredible. The Blue Lagoon was exactly how I hoped it would be and a real once in a life time experience.
Seeing the Golden Circle nature reserve was also amazing and we got to see it on a gorgeous blue sky day. Seeing the Geysers and the Gulfoss waterfall was out of this world too!
My whole wish experience was just so special. I would like to thank everyone involved, especially my Wishgranter Jamie who did so much to make our trip extra special.
To everyone at Make-A-Wish I would like to say a massive thank you for making my dream come true.
It has made such a difference to me as I sometimes have quite a tough time on a daily basis. To have a wish granted made me feel really special, especially being able to experience it with my mum.
I hope that you will be able to grant more wishes in the future and make kids who struggle with illness feel as special as I felt….it makes a difference.
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
Love Carys xxx
