The Wish Journey

We grant wishes to children aged 3 to 17 who are living with a critical illness. They can be referred to us by a medical professional, parent, family member – or they can even refer themselves!

You can refer a child online by clicking here, or if you’d prefer to do it by post, give us a call on 0118 304 2776 and we can send a referral form out to you.

What happens next?

Once a referral has come to us, we'll call the family to confirm if a child is eligible for a wish or not, sometimes we may require extra information on the child’s condition. Once this is confirmed, the child then begins their Wish Journey!

The Wish Journey

1. Wish Qualification

It’s a referral that starts the child on their Wish Journey. It begins to inform us about the child, the insights, eligibility, and impact the wish could have.

2. Wish Capture

Discovering and capturing a child’s One True Wish is fun! Our trained Wish Visitors work with the child to awaken their imagination, create excitement and empower the child to express their One True Wish.

3. Wish Design

Every child is individual, and so is the creative stage where our Wishgranters work with the child’s imagination to build an extraordinary wish experience.

4. Wish Anticipation

This can be as powerful as the wish itself. It builds the excitement and empowers the child by actively involving them in the creation of their wish. Anticipation helps contribute to the impact of the child’s wish.

5. Wish Realisation

The wish is a magical experience for the child – unique to their imagination. A child’s One True Wish is an exciting and memorable experience that will have a lasting impact.

6. Wish Effect

The positive impact of a wish lasts long after the wish has been granted. It fosters confidence, builds resilience and provides happiness.
