Restrictions on wishes we can grant

Please read below for details of restrictions around the wishes we can currently grant. This information will be reviewed and updated on a regular basis to reflect any changes to the wish types that we can offer.

Please note that we are not able to guarantee what a wish will include until you have spoken with your Wishgranter who will research budget and other factors we need to consider (like safety and delivery, for example).

• Make-A-Wish is not liable or able to provide any ongoing costs or subscriptions for ‘To Have’ wishes.
• For us to able to grant a wish for every eligible child, please note we do have budget restrictions in place, Make-A-Wish is unable to accept any contributions towards the wish.

We're sorry that we're currently unable to grant the following wishes:

• Garden makeovers and outdoor spaces
• Summerhouses / sheds
• Electrical and building renovations
• Medical equipment
• Wheelchairs/adaptations
• To own a pet
• To own a motor vehicle
• International travel

We know how exciting it can be to wish to meet a favourite celebrity, and we’ll do everything we can to help make the wish experience feel truly special and magical. When we organise celebrity wishes, our expert team reaches out to the celebrity’s representatives to explore what might be possible. Sometimes these conversations take time, and if we’re unable to confirm a response after a few months, your Wishgranter will chat with you about other magical wish ideas you might love just as much.

Celebrities can have very busy and changeable schedules, so these wishes can sometimes come together at short notice, and the experience itself may vary with every meeting being unique. On occasion, wishes might take place as part of a small group, or even virtually if meeting in person isn’t possible.

To make the most of the existing relationships and agreements we have in place, and to give each wish the best chance of coming true, we ask that families don’t contact the celebrity or their team directly. If a celebrity is able to send a video message or join a video call, this must be kept private unless the celebrity’s team has provided approval/consent. Your Wishgranter will guide you through all of this along the way.

There are a few celebrities who, for different reasons, aren’t able to take part in wishes - your Wishgranter can explain more and will help you through your wish journey if this the case.
