Working with Community Referral Partners

At Make-A-Wish UK we want to ensure that our wish children get the best wish experience possible. To support our vision of reaching every eligible child, we have transitioned to a new pathway for accepting wish referrals and are now working with Community Referral Partners. 

We continue to accept referrals for children with a prognosis of 12 months and under, which can be made by a member of the child’s health, social care, or education team.

We are focused on building communities around our wish children by forming strong partnerships with hospitals, hospices, and charitable organisations. Our new approach supports in enabling us to:

• Effectively support the growth of referrals year upon year through strong, established partnerships
• Support our referral growth vision
• Grow our reach in different communities and reach more children with a wider range of eligible conditions

• Manage expectations around wishes
• Decrease the number of ineligible children being referred

Who can become a Community Referral Partner?

We're keen to speak with organisations including hospitals, hospices and charitable organisation from across the UK who are interested in future opportunities to become Community Referral Partners.

Through expanding our partner organisations, we are hoping to reach more eligible children, whilst building our community of volunteers, exploring funding and engagement opportunities.
