We’re thrilled to share we’ve appointed Sachin Jogia as Make-A-Wish UK’s new Chair of Trustees from August 2026. Sachin is taking over from Lin Hinnigan, who’ll be stepping down after six fantastic years in post.

Under Lin’s leadership, Make-A-Wish UK has progressed our development as a child-led organisation. Lin was at the forefront for the creation of our young people’s advisory board, STARboard, a moment so pivotal it’s culminated with the appointment of our first young Trustee with lived experience, Sara Millar, earlier this spring.

Not only this, but Lin championed research that highlighted variation in wish eligibility across region, ethnicity and socio-economic backgrounds. Her focus on this issue led her to establish our Community, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee which significantly strengthened our approach to reaching wish children across the country.

Her guidance, dedication and unwavering commitment to improving children’s lives through granting wishes has laid a powerful foundation for our future, and we’re immensely grateful for the lasting impact she’s made across Make-A-Wish UK.

"Lin has made an enormous contribution to Make-A-Wish UK over the past six years. Her leadership has helped us grow as an organisation, strengthen the voice of children and young people in our work, and reach more families who need the power of a wish. We're incredibly grateful for everything she has done and the strong foundations she leaves behind. I'm delighted to welcome Sachin as our new Chair. As demand for wishes continues to grow, we remain focused on our ambition to reach more critically ill children and grant more life-changing wishes than ever before. Sachin’s experience, energy and commitment to creating meaningful change will help us have a huge impact and I’m excited to work alongside Sachin as we enter this next chapter."

Sachin joins us with a wealth of leadership experience across several industries, including technology and third sector. His thoughtful approach and insight will be a real asset, and we’re excited to have him with us as we move into this exciting new era.

“Make-A-Wish UK is often described through the single moment of a wish itself, but the reality is so much bigger. A wish brings joy in some of the hardest times a child and their family will face, hope before it happens, and resilience that ripples outward across communities long afterwards. It’s a genuine honour to Chair this incredible charity as it scales its impact to reach every child who needs a wish. It is a privilege to follow Lin Hinnigan into the role, and to work alongside Jason, the Trustees, STARboard, the wider team and dedicated volunteers on the next chapter.”

Sachin Jogia, new chair of Trustees at Make-A-Wish, reflecting on his appointment

Hearing from our brilliant outgoing chair, Lin told us:

“It speaks to the magic of the vision of Make a Wish that we attracted a great field of candidates interested in taking up the role of Chair of Trustees. I am absolutely delighted that we have secured Sachin Jogia to take up the role. He brings great skills and experience which will support our transformation journey so that we can grow and achieve our ambition to grant 10,000 life-changing wishes a year. And equally importantly he also brings a passion for making a tangible difference in the lives of children. As I finish my term as Chair, I am very sad to step down but I know that Sachin will lead Make-A-Wish into an exciting future.”

Please do join us in welcoming Sachin to Make-A-Wish UK as we enter this transformative new stage in our journey and follow along to see what we get up to.
