Meet Wishgranter Tequilla

This week, we're introducing you to Wishgranter Tequilla! She's written a lovely blog to tell you all about her role in helping to create life-changing wishes.

Hi I’m Tequilla and I’m 27 years old, I’ve been working for Make-A-Wish for about a year and a half and I’m based in Kent.

When I was little all I ever wanted to be was a Disney princess and work at Disneyland Paris. I’m lucky enough to say I achieved this dream. Having worked at Disney I got to experience granting a wish in a totally different way. I was able to help grant the wishes and see how much it really meant to the wish children and their families. 

Working for Make-A-Wish UK allows me to still experience this and lets me grant so many more amazing wishes, whether it’s to Disney or something completely different. I love how everyone’s wish is unique to them.

I feel proud to be a Wishgranter because I do get to have a relationship with the wish families. I’ve had so much lovely feedback from emails, cards, and even chocolate and flowers which I find touching. For someone to go out of their way to send something just shows how much of a difference we’ve made and how much they enjoyed their wish. However, the best feedback I received was that a family got a pet tortoise and they named it Tequilla after me and sent me a little video – I felt proud to have made such an impact! I like knowing that whatever I am organising for them is making a difference no matter how big or small. 

Since working for Make-A-Wish, my biggest achievement is Raising over a £1,000 with my Colleague Micky by climbing down the Arcelor Orbit. Such a fun experience for a great cause and I’m hoping to do more challenges in the future!
