Create lasting memories by donating today

Every hour, one child in the UK is diagnosed with a critical illness that makes them eligible for a wish. But the growing demand for wishes is far outpacing our best efforts to keep up. Please give whatever you can today and make a wish come true for a child like Ellie.

£20 could pay for a child to dress up as anything they wish, from a firefighter to a princess – so they look the part on their unforgettable day.

Ten-year-old Ellie is facing terminal cancer which has spread through her whole body. Ellie has lost a leg, and doctors now say she has tumours the size of a grapefruit pressing against her groin. When Ellie found out chemotherapy would no longer work, she was sobbing and saying ‘I don’t want to die. There are so many things I want to do’.

The one wish we can’t grant is more time, but thanks to kind people like you, we were able to grant Ellie’s wish to spend a day with golden retrievers. Make-A-Wish UK arranged for golden retriever owners to bring their dogs to meet Ellie – there were over 50 retrievers waiting for her! Her favourite part was cuddling the two puppies that were there. Ellie’s family, including her brother Teddie, were able to enjoy the wish with her – creating memories that they will have forever.

“No one brought up cancer, it was all about Ellie, Teddie and the dogs! Having a wish was a celebration for them both – these strong human beings who have gone through hellfire but are still smiling.”
