The app will also get updated in the lead up to the event, so make sure you have it on your phone!

What about accommodation?

There is generally a campsite around 50km in if you’re on the 2 day ‘Daylight’ 100km option. You can book an inclusive package or pitch your own tent.

What about transport?

Shuttle buses to and from Chesterfield train station are available as bookable extras when you sign up. Parking is available at the main venues for £7 per car.

On the day

Will there be rest stops?

There will be rest stops around every 12.5km, with larger ones around every 25km. These rest stops will have marquee cover, large medical and welfare tents, catering services, seating areas for recovery, and changing rooms.

Will the route be signposted?

The full route map will be available in the Ultra Challenge App. On the physical route there will be arrows, distance markers, hazard signs, and glow-sticks at night. Nighttime departures will be organised in groups so no one walks on their own. The organisers have a chip timing system that allows your friends and family, to track your progress through the rest stops.

Will there be food and drink?

Whichever distance you are taking on, meals, snacks and drinks will be provided. There will be snacks and drink stops every 12.5m, and meal/picnic stops every 25km. Energy drinks can also be provided, and all dietary requirements will be catered for. There will also be a finishers meal so you can properly celebrate!

What happens if I get injured on route?

There will be experienced doctors, paramedics, first aiders, podiatrists, and massage teams at rest stops. There will also be ‘Self Help’ areas with blister plasters, talc, Vaseline, and tape if you want to patch your own feet. Emergency Medical Teams are only a phone call away.

What happens at the end of the route?

You will celebrate in style with a cheer squad welcome, and then go on to receive your medal, finisher’s t-shirt, and a glass of fizz, before heading to a finishers meal and a well-earned rest.

Fundraising

How do I start my fundraising?

We recommend setting up a page with JustGiving. It’s the easiest and safest way to collect donations online, and all funds transfer directly through to Make-A-Wish UK.

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

Everyone has 4 weeks post-event to finalise their fundraising, and we’re here to help at any point if you need extra ideas or resources. We ask that you fundraise a certain amount to allow us to cover the cost of your place, whilst also making sure that money goes towards granting wishes. If you are still struggling to meet the fundraising target by the deadline, please get in touch so we can work with you to put a plan in place.

How long do I have to fundraise?

You have 4 weeks after the event to continue fundraising. Please note that we will still take into account any matched funding that reaches us after this date.

Where will my money go?

Your fundraising will grant life-changing wishes for children living with critical illnesses in the UK. Wishes have a profound and lasting effect on critically ill children and their loved ones, so your fundraising will help to create memories that will last forever - no matter what the future holds.
