I’m Grace and I'm from Preston, Lancashire. I've lived all over the place including Melbourne, Australia and Wellington, New Zealand as well as finding roots all over south England through various means. I studied at the University of Kent in Canterbury, which is where my love of volunteering comes from, and worked in Reading when I initially started here at Make-A-Wish. Despite my moving around, I've now returned and settled in the beautiful Lancashire countryside once again.
I've been involved with Make-A-Wish ever since a close family friend asked me to accompany him on his wish to see 2000’s boy band, Blue at the MEN. After seeing the independence his wish gave him, I've always had a place for Make-A-Wish wherever possible. I've fundraised through sponsorship and events as well as volunteered for Make-A-Wish Australia before ultimately joining the UK team in June 2018.
My role at Make-A-Wish
I'm the Regional Fundraising Manager here in Northern England. I'm responsible for the fundraising in this region and also looking after our incredible fundraising volunteers. We've a fantastic community up here with various volunteer roles all working towards granting as many wishes as we can muster!
My day to day varies a lot. One morning I can be cheering at the side lines of marathons, the afternoon helping out at a bake sale and the following day linking with corporate partners wanting to raise awareness and funds to grant our magical wishes. I'm your go to for anything happening in the north and I'm more than happy to try and help with any questions, queries or requests.
As some of my fabulous volunteering groups say – keep wishing!
"I love being out and about, meeting new faces and shouting about what we do. So if you’re in and around the north, please get in touch – I would love to meet fellow Make-A-Wish supporters."
