Eilish's mum had noticed her daughter getting tired a lot – at first, she put it down to the excitement of starting school. But then she started to become pale and didn’t want to play in the park anymore.
Eilish was diagnosed with leukaemia in October 2013. The gruelling chemotherapy was tough on Eilish – she lost her hair and became very weak.
Whilst in hospital, Eilish made a special friend called Kai who was also going through chemotherapy. She decided to arrange a toy sale – selling off her precious soft toys to help Kai’s family pay for a hotel when they were in London for his treatment.
It raised over £300, and a raffle they held afterwards brought the total up to £2,000. Everyone was so touched by Eilish’s kindness as she loves her toys so much.
After seeing their daughter’s act of generosity, Eilish’s family turned to us to give something special back to their little girl.
Eilish was made to feel like such a superstar, arriving at Hamleys in a limousine, and was taken straight past the queue and into the store. She had great fun choosing her toys – she packed her bags full with teddy bears (including one bigger than her!)
It was a trip they’ll never forget. "We can’t thank Make-A-Wish enough," Eilish's mum told us afterwards.
Please donate today and help children like Eilish get their wishes.
Wishes have a real impact on children's lives. We asked past wish families what their experience meant to them, and this is what they told us:
Please donate today – you'll be helping change the lives of even more seriously ill children.
