Jasmine Taylor, 16, from Oxfordshire, joins STARboard hoping to make a difference to the lives of as many young people as possible, bringing joy to them in times of difficulty. As a young teenager Jasmine was diagnosed with, and has since recovered from, leukaemia. Last year Make-A-Wish granted her wish to meet her idol, Ariana Grande. Together with her mum and best friend she spent a day out in London, including a trip to Buckingham Palace, before heading to O2 Arena with back stage passes where they met Ariana and enjoyed her concert.
Jasmine, who hopes to become a doctor one day, has taken the difficult experiences she had and turned them into positive ones. She believes that she is more compassionate and understanding of other peoples’ own challenges and gives back where she can. She currently volunteers at a local care home, where she first had to complete a dementia induction course, and last year worked with a team at a genetic diseases research facility.
