Milan meets Spiderman

Four year old Milan was diagnosed with Non Hodgkin’s Burkitt Lymphoma in January this year. During his time in hospital he loved watching Spiderman so when he was asked what his one wish was by Make-A-Wish he of course said to be Spiderman...

On the day of his wish, Milan, who is from Hornchurch in Essex, was taken by limousine to Virgin Active Clements Hall. On arrival he was treated to a special surprise…the 'real' Spiderman was there too! Milan spent the day learning how to climb up walls like Spiderman does and said that his favourite part was “all of it” but for Mum it was seeing his face when he saw Spiderman for the first time.

When Milan was diagnosed he was kept in Great Ormond Street for two months and underwent intensive chemotherapy. Milan’s parents did shifts to ensure he was never on his own; his Mum, Harpreet, stayed at the hospital during the week and his Dad, Sarabjit, stayed over the weekend.

Harpreet described his wish as the perfect way to end his treatment:

“Milan’s wish felt like closure. It was a celebration of him finishing his treatment and starting to be ‘normal’ again. Normality is what he has missed; he just wants to do all the things he did before.”

She went on to say: “Make-A-Wish exceeded our expectations; we can’t thank you enough.”
