Latest Wishes - Tall order for young George as he meets giraffes

George watches his friends the giraffes

Five year old George loves giraffes, so we were very happy to grant his wish to see them close-up – almost as happy as George himself...

Cerebral Palsy sufferer George from Winchester was treated to an all-expenses paid visit to Marwell Zoo in Owslebury, Hampshire. When George, his Mum Sarah and siblings Charlie (four) and Rosie (nine months) arrived at the zoo they spent a few hours enjoying the wild and wonderful sights and sounds in front of them.

Then it was time for the big moment! George was welcomed into the zoo’s giraffe enclosure and introduced to each denizen in turn. For an extra-special treat, George, whose condition keeps him in a wheelchair, was helped to feed the giraffes, including their babies, their favourite food – bananas and carrots.

After the special trip, George’s Mum Sarah said: “Visiting the giraffes was a unique experience for George and my family. George had such a great day and smiled so much. It made me so happy to see him happy, so a big thank you to Make-A-Wish for making this day possible.”

In 2010, around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. We need to raise £5 million this year in order to continue granting these magical wishes. Please help us to grant more magical wishes by making a donation today
