Latest Wishes - “The best evening out he’s had in two years.”

Proud James with his new bike

That’s what James’ Mum had to say after we granted his wish for a new bike...

14 year old James from Cardiff is fighting Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and wished for a new bike to give him the mobility to meet up more often with his friends and also to get fit after undergoing a bone-marrow transplant.

Make-A-Wish whisked James off to Don Skene Cycles to choose his very own top-of-the range Norco Stryk and all the accessories to go with it. Before the thrill of choosing his new steed could wear off (although, judging by the smile on his face in the photos, we think that could take some time!), we treated James, his family and three friends to a celebratory dinner at TGI Friday’s.

Posing proudly with his new bike, James told us: “I’m really chuffed with the bike. It means I can go out cycling with my friends and family which will really help me to get fit after my transplant.”

James’ Mum Karen added: “James is thrilled with the bike and really enjoyed his whole day.

“Not only did he get his dream bike, he was also able to go out with his friends in the evening, which was lovely as he’s seen very little of them since he had a relapse. He says it’s the best evening out he’s had in two years.”

In 2010, around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. We need to raise £5 million this year in order to continue granting these magical wishes. Please help us to grant more magical wishes by making a donation today
