Grime artist Tinchy Stryder teamed up with the UK’s leading wishgranting charity to grant a special wish to an aspiring young rapper.
Seventeen year old Luke was taken to meet the ‘Prince of Grime’ in his studio where they were able to share tips and rhymes, courtesy of Make-A-Wish.
Luke, from Eastbourne in East Sussex, lives with a severe form of Epilepsy called Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, which causes him to have seizures, or ‘drop attacks’, throughout the day. Despite this, Luke is determined to make it as an MC and looks up to Tinchy as a role model and source of inspiration.
Tinchy Stryder, the 23 year old star, is best known for his chart-topping singles ‘Number 1’ featuring N-Dubz and ‘Never Leave You’ featuring Amelle from the Sugababes. Recently completing a sold-out headline tour and now promoting his own clothing range ‘Star in the Hood’, Tinchy was only too happy to take time out from ‘taking over the world’ to grant Luke his special wish.
Tinchy said: “It was really great meeting Luke today. I was shocked about how much he knew about music and we like similar stuff. I was really impressed by his rap too, it was fun!”
Luke said: “This has been the best day. Tinchy is my mate and I got to rap with him. You wait till I tell my mates at school – it’s just been so cool!”
Luke’s mum Tracy said: " It has been such a good day for Luke. Tinchy is so down-to-earth, made Luke feel like a normal young man for the day and taught him to rap! I want to thank Make-A-Wish so much for making it happen.”
In 2010, around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. We need to raise £5 million this year in order to continue granting these magical wishes. Please help us to grant more magical wishes by making a donation today
