We Had A Wish - Wishing on a star

Kenton with his new telescope

Thanks to Make-A-Wish, teenager Kenton had a day that left him reaching for the stars...

When Kenton, from Chatteris in Cambridgeshire, was in hospital being treated for a Brain Tumour, he made a very good friend, named Nathan. For Christmas, Nathan gave Kenton the privilege of choosing any name he liked for a genuine star in the sky. Kenton decided he would like to see the star before naming it and so asked Make-A-Wish for a telescope to do just that.

Make-A-Wish arranged for Kenton, his mother Jean and brother Adam to be collected from their home in a stretched limousine and whisked off to choose a telescope to call his own. After numerous demonstrations and much deliberation Kenton chose his telescope and was shown how to get the best out of his new present so he will be able to locate his star once it gets dark.

Jean said: “He really deserves this special treat. It’s so good for him to have something nice after everything he has been through. The day has just meant so much to us all.”

Make-A-Wish was only able to grant this wish because of the generous support of people and companies around the UK. Please help us to grant more magical wishes by making a donation today
