Five year old Emma wished to be a princess for the day and stay in a real-life castle, so we tugged our forelocks and obeyed her command.....
Emma, from County Durham, lives with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and told us that she loves all things ‘princessy’! This of course includes a fondness for the colour pink, so we kept this in mind as the preparations were made for her wish.
Emma and her family were picked up from home in a pink limousine and driven to nearby Lumley Castle, which is also a hotel. On arrival, Emma was delighted to find laid out for her a complete princess outfit – pink dress, jewellery (including a special necklace) and even a tiara!
Once she was suitably attired as a princess, it was back outside for a fantastic ride around the grounds in a horse-drawn carriage before, having worked up an appetite, it was time for afternoon tea back at the castle, with a special princess cake.
Later on, the day was rounded off with an evening meal for the whole family before it was time for bed and a rare chance to stay in an actual castle!
Emma’s parents, Steven and Ruth, said: ”Thank you so much for arranging this special day for our family. We made lots of happy memories!”
