We Had A Wish - Marcel meets Mr Tumble

Marcel meets Mr Tumble

Marcel loves watching Mr Tumble's programmes on CBeebies – read on to see how things went when he got the chance to meet the man himself...

Four year old Marcel from Belfast lives with Cerebral Palsy and severe learning difficulties. His twin brother Andre also lives with these afflictions and recently had his own wish granted, to own some sensory equipment which would make his life easier and more fun. It turned out that the equipment was something that both boys could enjoy – and likewise Andre was also there to enjoy Marcel’s wish, which was to meet Make-A-Wish Ambassador Justin Fletcher, aka CBeebies’ Mr Tumble.

We flew the boys and their Mum over to London from Belfast and, after they had seen a few of the sights, the family was picked up by limo from their hotel to meet Mr Tumble for afternoon tea. Justin sat in character with both boys, communicating in special sign-language Makaton & singing a collection of songs from hit programmes ‘Something Special’ and ‘Gigglebiz’.

Both boys responded really well to Mr Tumble, recognising his voice instantly and giggling away contently for the whole time that he was there.

Marcel’s mum Jean said that she had been very worried about travelling over from Belfast with the boys, as it can be stressful and hard work – but when she saw the look on Marcel’s face and how it lit up as he met Mr Tumble, she felt that the whole journey was worth it.

“To work for Make-A-Wish you have to display compassion and kindness and you absolutely succeed in this. You couldn’t have done more for my two boys and you recognised how special they are without passing judgment. I thank Make-A-Wish from the bottom of my heart.”

Make-A-Wish was only able to grant this wish because of the generous support of people and companies around the UK. Please help us to grant more magical wishes by making a donation today
