Avneet, aged seven, from Littleover in Derby, had a truly magical day when her wish was granted to be Princess Zelda.
Avneet, who is living with Cystinosis, a rare genetic disorder, loves nothing more than playing her favourite computer game, The Legend of Zelda. Avneet wished she could spend the day as her heroine, Princess Zelda, so Make-A-Wish made it happen.
Avneet was collected from her home in a stretch limousine, having already been dressed just like Zelda and had her hair styled especially. Along with her parents and brothers Eeshar and Rajpinder, Princess Avneet travelled to Melbourne Hall in Derbyshire. Here, Avneet was treated like a real princess as she was shown round the halls and the stunning gardens before lunching in the Tea Rooms.
After lunch, Avneet was surprised with a ride in a spectacular horse drawn carriage fit for a princess. The white horses, Bumble and Spot, were dressed in all their finery for the special occasion, as was carriage driver Elaine Barnard from Horsedrawn Occasions.
Avneet said during her carriage ride: “I am a true princess – I’m shocked! Maybe I’ll even be famous now. Everyone is waving at me!”
Make-A-Wish would like to thank Margaret Ryder from Sewing Corner for making Avneet’s dress, it made her feel like a true Princess Zelda.
Make-A-Wish was only able to grant this wish because of the generous support of people and companies around the UK. Please help us to grant more magical wishes by making a donation today
