Children's Charter

Make-A-Wish aims to grant truly magical wishes to children living with life-threatening illnesses. In doing so, we undertake to:

  1. Treat every child with dignity and respect, whatever the child's physical or intellectual ability.
  2. Treat every child equally, regardless of their age, gender, race or location within the UK.
  3. Give every child the opportunity to state their own wishes, free from influence or interference. Where the child is not able to express themselves fully, the advice of the parents/guardians will be sought.
  4. Communicate in an honest and open manner, sensitive to the illness of the child. All decisions regarding eligibility and the choice of wish will be communicated in full.
  5. Communicate taking into account the age, gender and ethnic background of the child.
  6. Ensure that all members of staff and registered volunteers are subject to a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.
  7. Share information regarding a wish child and their family with third parties only in order to enable the wish to take place or, if approval has been given, for publicity and fundraising purposes. Information will not be shared with any other wish-granting organisations.
