Public Speaker
Purpose:
To give presentations to a wide variety of professional and community organisations including schools, acting as a public representative of Make-A-Wish in the local community
Main Contacts:
- Wide range of audiences of all ages including school children and students
Key Activities:
- Deliver presentations focused on the work of Make-A-Wish
- Attend cheque presentations and publicly thank supporters for their donations
- Actively encourage members of the local community to support Make-A-Wish
- Promote current fundraising initiatives and activities on behalf of Make-A-Wish
- At the event, ensure Make-A-Wish literature is displayed or distributed where possible
- Gather information and requests from contacts and audiences and ensure that these are passed on to Make-A-Wish
- Ensure the correct handling of any donations
Skills:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience of speaking in public settings
- Able to vary presentation style, demonstrate empathy with diverse audiences and tailor the talk to the locality
- Passionate about the work of Make-A-Wish and able to deliver the key messages and information provided
- Respectful of others' opinions, beliefs and points of view
- Smart appearance
- Ability to get to the location of the venue
- Confident in speaking to groups of people
- Access to an email account
Time Commitment:
A speaker engagement will normally last a couple of hours not including travel time and will normally take place during the daytime.
