Public Speaker

Purpose:

To give presentations to a wide variety of professional and community organisations including schools, acting as a public representative of Make-A-Wish in the local community

Main Contacts:

Wide range of audiences of all ages including school children and students

Key Activities:

Deliver presentations focused on the work of Make-A-Wish
Attend cheque presentations and publicly thank supporters for their donations
Actively encourage members of the local community to support Make-A-Wish
Promote current fundraising initiatives and activities on behalf of Make-A-Wish
At the event, ensure Make-A-Wish literature is displayed or distributed where possible
Gather information and requests from contacts and audiences and ensure that these are passed on to Make-A-Wish
Ensure the correct handling of any donations

Skills:

Good communication and interpersonal skills
Experience of speaking in public settings
Able to vary presentation style, demonstrate empathy with diverse audiences and tailor the talk to the locality
Passionate about the work of Make-A-Wish and able to deliver the key messages and information provided
Respectful of others' opinions, beliefs and points of view
Smart appearance
Ability to get to the location of the venue
Confident in speaking to groups of people
