Fundraising Winter Ball a great night again
A great night was had by all when Make-A-Wish recently held its annual Winter Ball...
The Ball, held at The Dorchester on London’s Park Lane, was attended by celebrities including cricketer Alec Stewart, singer Hannah Spearritt and actors Ben Barnes, Andrew-Lee Potts and Bradley Walsh (Alec, Ben and Bradley are all Make-A-Wish Patrons).
Entertainment came from Babette Langford and The Young Set, followed by the cast of the musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert, and then Jeffrey Archer was the host of a fantastic fundraising auction. Phenomenal auction prizes included the chance to not only attend but actually perform in the hit show Jersey Boys; to be at an exclusive pre-release screening of the new James Bond movie; a selection of luxury holidays including trips to the US, Brunei, Grenada, Cyprus and Portugal; and a wide selection of fully authenticated memorabilia from sporting and music legends, such as signed montages from the 1966 England football World Cup winning team and the victorious 2010 European Ryder Cup golf team.
Many thanks to our ten-man Winter Ball committee, led by Leslie Rose, Graeme Sands and John Leigh, who worked for months and months to create a really fabulous event to celebrate our 25th Anniversary – and succeeded:
a fabulous £495,000 has been raised, making this our best year ever!
Oh, and our volunteers were as fantastic as ever – a BIG thank you to them!
