Linda wins draw for hamper and balloon ride!
Here’s a picture of Linda Butler from Bangor, Co.Down, who won a raffle for a hot air balloon ride for two, kindly donated by an anonymous local business man. Some of our volunteers (among them David Bell, also pictured) also put together a small hamper containing donated items such as champagne and chocolates in order to help publicise the draw, and the hamper will go in the balloon as well.
The winning ticket was drawn by Joshua Fletcher, whose wish to visit Disney Paris was granted in 2007. Thanks to all!

It’s Princess Brooke of Belfast Castle!

Three year old Brooke from Londonderry has been fighting Retinoblastoma (a form of Cancer) in both eyes and sadly has had her right eye removed. Her heartfelt wish was to be a princess for the day and, with the help of our friends at Belfast Castle, we were happy to oblige.
Brooke’s big day started when a huge limousine arrived and dropped her off in her pretty pink princess dress at the castle for afternoon tea, after which she was thrilled to see a horse-drawn carriage waiting to take her for a ride. Even though it was raining, Brooke loved every minute and had an absolute ball, and also enjoyed a special treasure hunt with lots of presents to find! Although she was a bit tired when she got home, she and her family had a great day and she’s asked to wear her princess dress every day since her wish!
Brooke’s family finds it really difficult to see her so ill – but for just one magical day they were able to forget about doctors and treatments and enjoy seeing her as the princess of her dreams.

The Fun Run takes place through the centre of the city of Lisburn and is an ideal opportunity for families, including young children, and friends to get together to raise lots of money for Make-A-Wish. A lot of people will run, walk, push and even enter into the spirit of things in fancy dress to ensure a bright spectacle on the streets of Lisburn.

Last year's event was tremendous fun and we had more than 40 people Running for Wishes – let's see if we can beat that total in 2012!
