Remember us in your Will

Keeping the magic alive!

Since the very first gift to Make-A-Wish 25 years ago, gifts in Wills have been making children’s wishes come true.

A gift in your Will

Working every day with children and young people with life-threatening conditions we know that when it comes to financial decisions, family and loved ones come first. Which is why we really do appreciate the gifts that we do receive.

What your gift can achieve

Make-A-Wish is the country’s largest wishgranting charity. Every year we are granting more and more magical wishes. Your gift will ensure that more children get to experience the joy and magic that is a fantastic Make-A-Wish wish.

Four year old Brett from Yorkshire lives with a Brain Tumour. We were happy to grant his wish to visit Center Parcs, after which Mum Karlynne told us:

"We just wanted to say a big thank you to you all. We captured so many precious memories. It gave us a chance to come together as a family which we have not done for so long due to Brett's treatment regime...this wish really has uplifted all of the family."

A campaign, Legacy 10, was launched in November 2011 to increase the number of people in the UK who leave money to charity in their Wills. Political party leaders David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Ed Miliband have all pledged to leave 10% of their estates to charity – could you do the same for Make-A-Wish and help us grant more magical wishes?

How to do it

We recommend you use a solicitor when making or updating your Will.

For information on drawing up your Will, we have produced a Guide to Making a Will that you can download and read here.

How we can help you

We know what an important decision leaving a gift in your Will is.  If you would like to talk to someone about it, please email Karen England, Director of Fundraising, at karen.england@make-a-wish.org.uk or ring 01276 40 50 82.

How you can help us

If you have already included a gift in your Will to Make-A-Wish, or intend to in the future, we would love to hear from you.  We’d particularly like to hear your story about why Make-A-Wish has such a special place in your heart.

For example Carole Pallant, one of our longest-serving volunteers, told us:

“I would like to provide a child fighting a life-threatening illness with something magical to look forward to instead of hospitalizations and painful treatments. I know that making a bequest to Make-A-Wish in my Will will do exactly that.”

And longtime supporter Jayne Watson has also amended her will to include a bequest to us:

“It’s important to me to know that I am helping a deserving cause and that, when the time comes, my money will be spent responsibly. I am confident that my legacy will make a real difference and help Make-A-Wish to continue its fantastic work into the future.”

You can also set up a Tribute Fund to a deceased loved one and commemorate their memory whilst helping to grant magical wishes - find out how...
