We made teenager Zak’s day when we granted his special guitar wish. Read on to find out more....
16 year old Zak from Braithwell in Rotherham, who is living with acute Myeloid Leukaemia – a type of blood cancer – is a huge guitar fan and plays his father’s guitar every night after school. His wish was to have a guitar of his own, and Make-A-Wish was happy to help him to, er, ‘pick’ one out.
We collected Zak, his parents and his brother Josh in a stretch limousine and took them to specialist York music store Gear4music. The staff showed the family around the shop and let Zak try out a range of top quality guitars and amplifiers. Once the vital choice was made, Zak was presented with the guitar he has long wished for – a black Epiphone one that was designed by legendary guitarist Les Paul.
Zak was overjoyed and humbled, saying: “I am so happy to have a guitar of my own. There are lots of sick children and I think they all deserve to have great wishes and feel as happy as I do right now.”
In 2010, around 1,000 children will turn to Make-A-Wish to have their special wish granted. We need to raise £5 million this year in order to continue granting these magical wishes. Please help us to grant more magical wishes by making a donation today
