Children's Charter
Make-A-Wish aims to grant truly magical wishes to children fighting life-threatening
illnesses. In doing so, we undertake to:
- Treat every child with dignity and respect, whatever the child's physical or intellectual
ability.
- Treat every child equally, regardless of their age, gender, race or location within the UK.
- Give every child the opportunity to state their own wishes, free from influence or interference.
- Seek the advice of the parents/guardians where the child is not able to express themselves fully.
- Communicate in an honest and open manner, sensitive to the illness of the child. All decisions regarding eligibility and the choice of wish will be communicated in full.
- Communicate taking into account the age, gender and ethnic background of the child.
- Ensure that all members of staff and wishgranting volunteers are subject to a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau disclosure.
- Share information regarding a wish child and their family with third parties only in order to enable the wish to take place or, if approval has been given, for publicity and fundraising purposes.
