We do ask that runners awarded one of our Gold Bonded places in the Virgin London Marathon agree to our terms and conditions, specifically including the following two statements:

  • If I fail to attend for any reason I understand I am personally liable for the minimum sponsorship
  • I agree to pay all monies no later than eight weeks after the event

    • These conditions are in place because the cost to Make-A-Wish for each place we are allocated is between £1,000 and £2,000.
    • We are liable to the organisers for the whole of this cost, WHETHER OR NOT the runner to whom we allocate that place is able to participate in the event.
    • We are not only liable for the full sum, but we actually pay this amount in full to the organisers many weeks BEFORE the event takes place.
    • Therefore we feel, as a registered charity, that it is reasonable to ensure our costs are covered even when a runner is unable to run.

Wish Granted

Kenton with his new telescope

Teenager Kenton, who is being treated for a Brain Tumour, was lucky enough to be able to choose the name for a star. Make-A-Wish arranged for him to have a state-of-the-art telescope so he could see ‘his’ star while he pondered his choice. Mum Jean told us: “It’s so good for Kenton to have something nice after everything he has been through. The day has just meant so much to us all.”
